Buttons and axes

Controller Inputs

See live gamepad values.

Gamepad API support varies by browser and controller, but most modern controllers report buttons and analog axes after the first button press.

Button test

Press controller buttons and watch each button cell light up.

Stick axis test

Move analog sticks and triggers to inspect live axis values.

Drift check

Untouched sticks should usually return close to 0.00 on both axes.

How to test a controller online

Connect your controller, press any button once, then click Start Tester. If the controller appears, press every button and move each stick. Watch for buttons that do not respond and stick axes that stay away from zero when untouched.

Browser and controller compatibility

This controller tester uses the browser Gamepad API. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari can expose different button labels, axis order, vibration support, and connection behavior. If the gamepad does not appear, connect it by USB or Bluetooth, press a button while this tab is focused, and try another browser if needed.

Xbox controllers, PlayStation controllers, Switch Pro controllers, and many generic USB or Bluetooth gamepads can work when your operating system recognizes the device and the browser exposes it to the page.
